Granite Gold is Back In Stock

and they have some new products too.

The brilliant, Granite Gold Natural Stone cleaning products, have finally arrived from the USA and are now available for purchase.

Along with the usual staples of Daily Cleaner and Polish, Granite Gold have introduced some new items as well and we are proud to have these for sale.

First up, recognizing people are often left confused about which products to use on their natural stone surfaces to keep them looking their best, Granite Gold have produced the Home Care Collection Box set.

Comprising Daily Cleaner, Polish, All-surface Cleaner and the Scrub Sponge, the Home Care Collection gives you all the essential tools needed to keep your natural stone surfaces looking brand new.

Sometimes a quick wipe of the surface is all you need rather than a full spray and polish, fulfilling that need, Granite Gold have produced the following packs of wipes to make life easier.

Granite Gold Daily Cleaner Wipes are pre-moistened wipes in a pouch that can re-sealed. Impregnated with Daily Cleaner solution, the wipes make it simplicity itself to give the surfaces a quick spritz without breaking out the spray bottles.

Once you have cleaned using the daily cleaner wipes, you can now top up your shine with the new Granite Gold Polish Wipes. Available in the same re-sealing pouch, the Polish wipes make it so easy to keep that lustrous shine on your natural stone, the neighbours will be envious of.

Fed up with all the soggy bits of kitchen paper after using the Daily Cleaner or the Polish, well Granite Gold have thought of all that waste and taken steps to help you reduce it. They have produced a series of microfiber cloths that are specially designed to work with their products.

Machine washable, the cloths offer a large surface area to clean or buff up your Granite and other natural stone surfaces in the home, gone are the days of soggy kitchen roll or hunting around to find a clean cloth to use.

The Daily Cleaning Cloth has been specially designed to offer optimal cleaning potential when used in conjunction with Daily Cleaning Spray.

The same goes for the Polish Buffing Cloth, double sided, use one side to buff to a brilliant finish and the other side to wipe the surface dry.

The third of the microfiber cloths produced by Granite Gold is to aid the application of the Granite Gold Sealer. Developed with super-fine microfibers to penetrate the pores of natural stone,
Granite Gold Sealer Applicator evenly applies the sealer on granite, marble, travertine and all other natural stone.

Alternatively you can get all three in one pack with Granite Gold Microfiber Variety Pack.

Gently clean, seal and polish granite, marble, quartz and other stone. Soft microfiber cloths gently tackle the tasks and won’t scratch surfaces.

Are You Using The Right Cleaner??

You have just made a nice investment into your home and splashed out on some gorgeous looking granite worktops and surfaces, see how they sparkle in the light and have that mirror like shine coating on them, If you are serious about keeping them looking that way, then keep reading.

Granite is a low maintenance product that requires very little care, but it is important to use the right products to clean your granite countertops or floor. Despite its durability, granite is a porous stone that can absorb liquids, some of which result in staining or etching, a dullness that may permanently disfigure your granite. Here’s why you should avoid using acidic cleaning products on granite and other types of natural stone and what you should use instead.

ETCHING AND EROSION

Granite is not as soft as marble, but it can still be damaged. Etching is a type of damage that occurs when granite is exposed to acidic products. This damage of the surface often shows as dull etch spots on the surface, but it can also affect the entire surface of the granite if you use acidic cleaners. If the acidic product sits on the surface for too long, or if your granite is very porous, it can even result in indentations or erosion.

WHY ACIDS DAMAGE GRANITE

The reason acidic cleaners damage natural stone is because stone contains some concentration of calcite, which reacts to even weak acids by dissolving. Marble and limestone have a high amount of calcite and are most susceptible to etching, but granite is not impervious. In addition to some calcite, granite also has natural fissures and pits that can trap acidic cleaning products. This means the stone can degrade slowly over time.

ACIDS TO AVOID ON GRANITE

Many common household cleaning products can damage granite countertops and floors. You are unlikely to see the damage for some time, by which point your countertops will appear dull and may even have visible indentions. Avoid any products that contain acids, including citric acid. Acidic foods such as vinegar, wine, lemon juice, pineapple, and tomatoes can also cause damage to natural stone.

CAN ETCHING BE REPAIRED?

Etch marks and dullness on granite can sometimes be repaired, but it’s not a DIY task. This is because the polished surface of the granite has been chemically damaged, so it’s not a matter of simply cleaning or buffing the stone. If your granite has already been damaged by harmful cleaning products, you will likely need to have the stone professionally refinished and repolished.

HOW TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR GRANITE

It’s important to know how to clean granite and maintain it. The best way to prevent damage to your granite counter tops is to use the right cleaning and sealing products. To prevent a hazy film, use a granite-safe cleaner like Granite Gold Daily Cleaner®. Your granite should also be sealed regularly to prevent chemicals and liquids from seeping into the porous stone and causing damage. To seal your granite, apply a granite sealer in three-foot sections. Immediately buff the sealer into the stone with a clean cloth until dry before moving on to the next section.

How to Seal Granite and Other Natural Stone with Granite Gold

Written by Stone Care Experts on August 15, 2013 – www.granitegold.com

A damaged protective seal leaves granite and other natural stone surfaces susceptible to costly repair and replacement.

Frequently sealing granite countertops and any other natural stone surface is among Three, Essential Steps to care for your natural stone, whether it’s a countertop, floor, shower wall or vanity. Sealing frequently will maintain maximum surface protection for resistance against staining, etching and soil build-up.

We’re often asked how often natural stone should be sealed. Some in the industry will say once a year; others maybe twice annually.  The reality is you can never over-seal your stone.  Frequent sealing provides constant protection against oil-based stains such as salad dressing, cooking oil or vegetable oil.  When they come into contact with unsealed natural stone, the oils can penetrate the pores and leave unsightly reminders.  The same is true for water-based stains such as tea, wine or coffee.

So, to answer the question on how frequently you should be sealing granite countertops or other natural stone surfaces, our advice is to determine whether you need to reseal.  Here’s how you can do that:Water-Test

  • Pour water (about 3 inches in diameter) on the surface in several locations and let it sit for 30 minutes. If you see a dark mark or ring, the water is penetrating the stone and it’s time to reseal.

If it’s time to reseal or you’re sealing for the first time, you can have a professional restoration specialist handle the job for you – a pretty big price tag can come with that.  Some do-it-yourself stone sealers require protective gear because of the toxicity.  Granite Gold Sealer®, however, is non-toxic and non-acidic with no phosphates or ammonia.  We created it so sealing could be both safe and easy for homeowners.  It’s literally a spray-and-wipe solution, kind of like the wax-on-wax-off mantra from the Karate Kid movie.

In six simple steps, here’s how to seal granite and all other natural stone for about 10 percent of the cost of having a pro come do it for you or having to dress like your local hazardous waste team:

  1. Make sure you thoroughly clean the surface with a safe-on-stone granite cleaner.  We, of course, recommend Granite Gold Daily Cleaner®.
  2. Spray Granite Gold Sealer®on the surface in a 3-foot section
  3. Immediately wipe into stone with a lint-free cloth. Do not allow sealer to dry on the surface – it will cause hazing
  4. Buff dry with a lint-free cloth
  5. For maximum protection, repeat the process 2-3 times
  6. Wait 24 hours for sealer to cure before using a granite polish such as Granite Gold Polish® to add shine and luster
  7. Once complete, you’ll have the added confidence knowing the pain-free effort you put into protecting your stone.
